Acknowledgement

The purpose of an acknowledgment is for a signer, whose identity has been verified, to declare to a Notary or notarial officer that he or she has willingly signed a document.

(1) The signer is permitted to appear before the notary with a document they already signed, however the signer must appear before the notary to make the acknowledgement

(2) The signer does not have to be put under oath, however the notary must identify the signer

(3) The signer of the document must specifically declare that they have signed the document for its intended purpose. The signer must be able to directly communicate with the notary that they willingly signed the document.

Process of Acknowledgement:  The Signer Signs the document if its not signed already. The Notary asked the signer "Do you acknowledge that you have signed this document for the purpose stated in the document. If the signer says yes, the notary then completed the certificate with their signature and seal.
